| Who knew all of these "small" deals being done by the Wild GM... would translate into a 4 point weekend against the Avs. They actually looked like a good team for once on Friday, and that's with Havlet, Sykora, Burns and Buchard all watching from the press box. |

The Blackhawks came back to reality, losing to the Ducks and then losing in a shootout to the Kings last night. Oh well, I'm not complaining about going 4-1-1 on the West Coast swing. _________________

Tomorrow at 2pm CST, the Blackhawks will hold a press conference to announce new deals for Duncan Keith, Jonathan Toews, and Patrick "Buffalo Jesus" KANE.
A source told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun that forwards KANE and Toews will each receive five-year deals for $31.5 million and a $6.3 million average salary. Keith, a defenseman, gets a 13-year, $72 million contract that averages $5.54 million per season. _________________

These new contracts are getting out of hand really quick! Let me guess, they are all front loaded to no end, with little on the back end? And the owners talk about being "responsible?"
And the funny part... Brodeur has been doing these contracts his whole career! Who says goalies are stupid? |

Actually, they are even throughout the years. Nothing front loaded, nothing back loaded. Just a straight up contract.
Also, how about that game last night between the Hawks and Pens. Grant it Sidney not being there was a bonus for the Hawks, but still an awesome display of goaltending by Niemi and Fleury. _________________

| How 'bout my Wild!? They went from being the worst in the West to being just on the outside of the playoff bubble (yea I know it's really early in the season still.) And that's with one of our top D-men out, a 20 goal scorer out, a 50-60 point player out and various other injuries that have taken guys in and out of the lineup constantly (Clutterbuck, Ebbet, Nolan, etc.) |

How's Havlat working out? I'm loving Hossa right now, but man Sharp, Keith and Seabrook are underrated. _________________

| Havlat is finally starting to produce, but his defence is awful. I think things will be better once we get some consistency in the line ups. |

The Hawks downed the Wings last night. Huet got another shutout, but let's face reality, the Wings were without Zetterberg, Franzen, Cleary and others. _________________

Niemi blanked the Wings last night. 8-1-1 with 4 shutouts this year. Tell me there aren't teams knocking at the Blackhawks door right now. _________________

The Blackhawks took 2 this weekend from the Predators! Kaner with 2 goals and 1 assist, Madden was key! I'm loving this team. _________________

I hate Huet. He drops faster than someone being knocked out by Butterbean. That Bozo better learn how to play against Playoff teams or all the hard work in the regular season will be lost for the Hawks. _________________

The Hawks beat the Blues, in a very dirty game. Jackman was head hunting KANE and the Blues just took too many stupid penalties.
Scary moment, Tkachuk took a puck to the face in the waning moment of the game off a slapshot at the top of the blueline and was rushed off. Even through all the fighting, Huet and Fraser saw he was hurt and were waving the trainers onto to the ice. _________________

I was just talking to a co-worker last night who approached me and said; "how bout my 'Hawks!?" (He's from Chicago.) Funny... a year or so ago and he'd say "don't really watch the 'Hawks anymore, especially after they started to dump all their talent in the mid 90s" and now suddenly it's "his hawks?"
But it reminds me of my prediction from a few years ago. First, they'd get the talent used to the NHL. Then they'd just miss the playoffs. The following year they'd make the playoffs and possibly have a decent run. 4th year they would challenge the Wings for the division. And after that it would all depend on if they ever get a young stud in the net.
And how did that prediction turn out? Well it's year 4... |

You were right AA, take a bow. All those draft picks are starting to payoff for the Hawks. _________________

how bout that World Junior final!!?? US take a 5-3 lead (Mike Lee gives up 3 goals on 7 shots before being pulled.. probably the first time in his life he's been pulled) lose the lead in the final few minutes of the 3rd. Win it in OT!
Wish I could have seen it on TV |
