Wild pull of a come from behind win over the 'Hawks. Seriously how do you go from being up 5-1 to losing? Huet must have been in net for the 'Hawks.

so you may or may not have heard that Alex Burrows is calling out one of the officials from their game the other night. He's claiming that he was targeted by a ref because (according to the ref) Alex made him look foolish by diving and drawing a penalty. As it turns out, the PP cost the Nucks the game.

ok, stage set?

Here's my take on it (because I'm sick of trying to talk to people on the canucks fan forum where they'll defend their player with the biggest set of rose colored glasses EVER!) If he really did take a dive... FUCK HIM! Line the penalties up left and right so that son of a bitch never sees the ice!

This guy isn't a total boy scout either... not long ago he clearly left his feet to check a Nashville player (you can even see him bend his knees to prepare to jump) and then turtles when Arnott kicks the crap out of him. A couple seasons ago he speared PM-Bouchard from the Wild... the same guy who hardly even gets 20 total PIM in a season! Then when players square off... who does he find? Not Burns, not Simon.. no he finds a guy that's 5'9"

Now he's also no Avery either, so I won't call him a total tool.

But shit diving and other tricks that some of these players use to "hide" is seriously pissing me off, and the league is too chicken shit to do anything about it. And who's looking like the fools... the refs. So good for them for finally sticking it back to these players who try to "act" their way to a PP that could cost the other team a win.

ok all that said... if the league finds that he wasn't "targeted" and it turns out to be a totally baseless claim... I say throw the fucking book at him for trying to stir shit up off the ice. If it does end up to be true, then that ref should be suspended (for taking matters into his own hands) but the league should also look at making a "diving" penalty a bigger penalty. For example... ever notice how a PP is nullified by a "diving" call at the same time of a hook or trip? If you get called for diving... make it a double minor so that the hook/trip still gets called... but it's washed out by half of the dive that was done to try and draw extra attention to the call.

That would put down any attempt to dive by players. They wouldn't want to risk it and cost their team.

Oh and guess who's playing the 'Nucks next... the Wild Pissed Off

Ah diving, I'm loving the fact that so many players think they can do it and get away with it. And guess what, it's still happening and not being called. Bettman needs to grow a set already. People I talk to think he is the most useless of the commissioners in sports. That's says a lot because it was Bud Selig for a long time.

THe Hawks have not been playing all that well lately. We have the Stars, Thrashers, and Blue Jackets this week.

The Chicago Blackhawks are heading to their first Stanley Cup final appearance since 1992. Now we have to wait and see if we will face the Flyers or the Habs.
